Does the app require an internet connection?
No. Polyglottos runs entirely on your device. No internet connection is required for any feature, including translation, voice input, and text-to-speech.
Why is the download so large?
The app includes on-device AI models for speech recognition, translation, and voice output. These models are what make offline operation possible. We recommend downloading over wifi.
The first translation is slow. Is that normal?
Yes. The first translation after launching the app takes a moment while the models load into memory. After that, translations are fast.
Does the app store my conversations?
No. Nothing is stored between sessions. Your learner profile and flashcard progress are saved locally on your device only and are never transmitted anywhere.

How do I use voice input?
Tap the microphone icon in the Translate tab and speak. The app converts your speech to text, then translates it. Microphone access is required and processed entirely on-device.
How does the flashcard system work?
The Learn tab uses spaced repetition (SRS) to surface cards at optimal intervals for memory retention. You can create multiple learner profiles and set your own daily card limits per language.
What languages are supported?
Polyglottos supports 200+ languages for translation worldwide. Text-to-speech is available for a subset of languages depending on available voice models.
